As part of its corporate social responsibility, Bobnel Child Support Foundation held a Christmas party for the less privileged children in Lagos

The atmosphere was that of fun and excitement as many children from different homes in Lagos had a Christmas treat, dance competition, Christmas carol and gift presentation from Santa Claus curtsey of the Bobnel team.

According to the Executive Director, Mrs. Cornelia Imoh Udoenoh who was represented by Ms. Jade Durotoye one of the board of trustees said, the essence of the party was to give the children a sense of inclusion during the Christmas period, adding that apart from the Christmas party, it also takes care of the health care needs of some of the children while going to provide accommodation via Bobnel World Class Center among them.

Earlier in the year, Bobnel Child Support Foundation celebrated its 20th year anniversary and launching of Bobnel World Class Center building. The NGO later provided gifts support for some of the children, further demonstrating its commitment to childcare support in Nigeria.

She also urged the children to take their studies seriously so that they can become successful individuals and be able to replicate the same gesture in the future.

I sincerely appreciate Bobnel Child Support Foundation, caregivers, volunteers, and the team of sponsors that deemed it fit to put smiles on the faces of these children annually. It takes those with Godly hearts to extend love to these children by doing whatever it takes to put smiles on the faces of these children

Mrs Cornelia Udoenoh, founder/Executive Director

Ms. Jade Durotoye who took tunes to dance with the children, explained that the party was in line with the spirit of Christmas which is about giving and showing love, especially to the less privileged in society.

She added that Bobnel decided to support children in homes and orphanages because many of them lack social activities, parental care and are deprived of opportunities that the party offers. He also appeals to well-meaning Nigerians and international bodies to come to their aid in making sure that these less privileged children are not homeless she acknowledged.

Many of the children here today lack social and recreational opportunities, they don’t have parents to take them out during Christmas time like this. This, in turn, affects their sense of dignity and self-confidence, this is why we in Bobnel Child Support foundation initiated the idea 20 years ago to hold an annual Christmas and Year-end party for the children and it has been growing every year.

She advises the society to take care of the children with special needs, accept them the way they are and encourage their parents. The children sometimes face rejection from their parents and society. As you can see, the children are happy and having fun, we serve them food, drinks, cakes, ice-cream and snacks. We provide them with games, train rides, musical entertainment so that they can have fun and enjoy themselves.

Father Christmas is also present, together with special guests and journalists to interact with and give each of the children a hamper. The Director said Bobnel will be grateful to welcome partners and sponsors from the private sector, government and individuals.

She also commended the homes for their support in rallying all the homes and orphanages in the state to attend the party.

One of the children, Miss Bolanle Rotimi from National Orthopedic Special School Igbobi, who spoke on behalf of the other children, thanked and applauded Bobnel for the 2019 edition of its annual Christmas Party for the less privileged children drawn from many Orphanages, rehabilitation homes, remand homes and centers across the state in attendance. She commended Bobnel and the team of volunteers for their efforts at making this initiative an annual event in the past 20-years.
